The riding areas are extensive.

Showjumping is the focus here at Gloucester Downs but equally important is the development of the rider as an understanding partner.

Ethics, exercise physiology, interval training, progressive loading, cross training, and sports psychology are available as you progress through your development.

The complete care of the horse and the use of a yearly training plan will help you to become the best you can be as a team.

Summer Camps and Clinics for 2006

Two types of clinics are planned for 2006, one or two per month, June through August.

HORSEMANSHIP - Children and adult sessions are separate - 5 days for $250
Half day sessions in management and horse care will include hands on experience. Topics that will be covered include:
* Feeding - regiemes for various breeds, size, age and work load
* Health -
* Grooming
* Pasture management
* Stalls and Paddocks
* Progressive Training
* Recovery from injury
* Competition planning

JUMPER TRAINING - Derby obstacles included - 5 days for $325 stall/paddock provided
Half day clinics on your horse or ours.
According to capability of horses and riders training includes how to jump:
* water
* devil's dyke, grob
* combinations
* banks
* ditches

Dates will be set according to participant interest and Farm show schedules.

Riding lessons are available for all levels Gloucester Downs Equestrian Park offers training for all levels of riders and horses. Gloucester Downs has a complete grass derby course and offers one of the truly competent training grounds for the Derby courses.

At Gloucester Downs students progress at their own pace. Each rider and each horse is an individual and the progression toward your goals should be at a pace that is comfortable. This varies with each athlete. Come talk to us about a program for you.

Showjumping for the adult amateur Hickstead style bank, and many other banks and hills are available for the rider and horse Normandy Bank, one strid, bounce or drop.

There are many natural jumps on the grounds that duplicate the fences found at the top shows in the world on their Derby courses. Full board and training, clinics and shows, will help you to learn the vocabulary necessary to compete in your discipline.
