Rehabilitation
of athletic injuries is a fact of life for both riders and horses. Any
athlete that competes at a committed level in any sport will be subject
to layoffs and minor or major injuries. We try to minimize the long term
effects of injuries by early recognition and rehabilitation.
The farm
has set up the paddocks, the fields, the dutch Mill and many of the training
areas to take advantage of hills and slightly sloped terrain while trying
to eliminate boggy, deep footing and provide a secure understructure to
the training and tunout areas.
Getting fit
is a science and returning to fitness after an injury has many controllable
components even for our equine partners. The involvement of the owners
and students in the rehabilitation of injured animals is another important
experience in the structure of the learning environment at Gloucester
Downs.
We work with
a variety of traditional and complementary modalities and have a close
working relationship with a complete selection of professionals
